If I had a plasma pistol pointed at my head and asked what game I was looking forward to most this year, I’d have to say Halo 4. I usually book at least a day off work when a new Halo is released so that I can play through the campaign uninterrupted, and I’ve been able to do that for the past 3 years without fail. This year however, is going to be different.
To support Extra Life this year, I’m going to prevent myself from playing Halo 4 for 4 days, despite the fact that I’ll be receiving the game on November 6th just like everybody else. It’s not a fair trade by any means, those 4 days couldn’t possibly compare to the hardships of the children that Extra Life and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals help, but it’s a small self-sacrifice that could hopefully earn some extra donations from you fantastic people.
I’ll be doing occasional video logs in the run up to Halo 4’s release, with one every day between November 6th and when I do my marathon stream on the 10th. During that time I want my friends, fellow gamers and the Big Red Barrel community to hassle me as much as possible – something that will make those 4 days more unbearable for me. Send me messages about how awesome it is, link me to reviews, try to spoil the story. But in return for torturing me about my most anticipated game of 2012, I only ask that you make a small donation to my Extra Life page.
In my third video log, I announced my plans for my Extra Life stream, which will take place here on BRBTV Live on November 10th, starting at 10am GMT with the single player campaign, moving onto War Games and Spartan Ops later on.
Don’t forget though, that there are many other members – both staff and community – of Big Red Barrel taking part who also deserve support in their respective marathons. So why not check them out.
Here’s the first vlog that generally sums up what’s been already said here, with possibly a few bonus funny moments thrown in.
In the second vlog, I ran into a few technical issues and get to talk a little about recent Halo 4 news.
In my third vlog, I announced the plans for the stream and have to take the Cinnamon Challenge after a generous donation.
The forth vlog is all about what’s in it for you. As well as the entertainment value of seeing me suffer not playing Halo 4, then playing Halo 4, donating to my Extra Life could earn you prizes!
Fifth vlog, on November 6th. That’s the day Halo 4 came out for those keeping track!
