Backrooms has now made the jump from eerie online phenomenon to full A24 feature, and the first full trailer does not try to smooth out what made it work in the first place. The footage keeps that empty, wrong-feeling atmosphere intact while widening the scale around Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve.
There is more narrative shape here than in the earlier material, but the trailer is still strongest when it lets the space do the work. It feels like A24 understands that the creep factor is the sell, not an explanation of every corner.
