I don’t know what transpired on twitter between Phil Fish and the Annoyed Gamer, but holding a game “hostage” is stupid and childish. I do realize that he is not obliged to create the game for us, but his clear intent was to turn the public’s ire onto the annoyed gamer by hanging Fez 2 on a thread. Regardless of his PR skills (or lack of it), that’s just mean-spirited.
Being able to develop for the Xbone without the need for extraneous dev kits is pretty cool. I hope that if this heralds the return of xbox indie titles that they hold the submitted games up to some standards. Quite a few titles on there currently are atrocious.

Hey. Having just recently watched the documentary, Indie Game: The Movie, I honestly believe that Phil’s biggest failing in this incident was an emotional one. Neither of us can be inside his head at the time it all went down, but the opinion I formed from various articles and the above film, was that he simply states everything he feels at any given moment. Most of us filter these emotional swings into a consistent flow – he doesn’t. Unless this was exacerbated by editing – entirely possible – then I don’t think he thought far enough ahead to use Fez 2 as a hostage, instead he just gave in to anger. In my humble opinion, Fez 2 will return once he cools down and figures out a way to spin this, so he doesn’t lose too much pride in the process. I found his rawness refreshing at times, though a little high maintenance – certainly wouldn’t want to work with him.

Yeap, totally agree with your sentiments towards Phil Fish. I don’t think anyone is actually in fear of Fez 2 being cancelled, not the first outburst from Fish after all. Fish is certainly welcome in an industry that has gotten a tad stagnant in recent years. However, i don’t think having a bit more professionalism would hamper his creative talent.
Ah hell, too much thought and consideration has been spent discussing an act that embodies neither.

Of all the things that Microsoft could cave-in over, I wish they would do a Kinnect-free Xbone. *Holds breath, expectantly* It’s not going to happen though, they are too proud of it. Shame
Great show Guys.

Looks like I spoke too soon!
