    Best show on the site.

    Boomers unite.

I don’t think murdering children has been accepted into mainstream video games… That’s probably why there’s no Hunger Games video game.

  3. MTaylo050

There is a Hunger Games video game on iOS and I think there is one on Facebook too.

  4. TamarindLAZ

I bet the elite of the Hunger Games would listen to ‘Boom’.

Thanks for the episode! Perfect way to kick off Spring Break! thumb

Burst out laughing when I was mentioned by Yoshi, another excellent show guys keep it up! thumb

    YES YOSHI YES!

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Radio Play is actually the original version of the story! The book was written afterwards based on it. It is amazing and hilarious and great to listen to on the bus/car or anywhere else. RECOMMENDDDDDD

I’m glad someone else listens to it. Love you Yoshi

Sure! I’ll make a game in a week. I first need funding.

    Lots and lots of funding.

If they made a Hunger Games game, I think it should be an open world type of RPG where the you can go anywhere in the entire battle area thing. And if it was single player, they should use the AI system they used for Skyrim dragons where the AI doesn’t have mapped out movements and every encounter with AI is unique.

    Beckham in Space… RIP SaintMantooth.

I like that the Mormon Stories segment is back, but  I think that Yoshi should also share some Mormon Stories.

Also, will the Hunger Games: The Video Game include clerics?

Great show, guys. Can’t wait for next week.

  10. I must get my hands on the hitchhiker series, I loved the first book when I read it.
I’m secretly hoping there’s a Pinball FX Hunger Games table incoming.

You lift weights while listening to podcasts too?

  13. I’m so mad I didn’t make a “Gears of Wario” joke. Sad.

The Hunger Games: the Video Game

Murder of children it would include

    concerned parents it would anger

angry parents does not a game make

I was going to post the same thing. If you love the books and never knew it was a radio show back in the early 80s then you should definitely give them a listen. Slightly different story line to the books too. You can buy them on Amazon

Also you may not know but there’s been a new Hitch Hikers novel released a year or so ago by a replacement author, Eoin Colfer, called “And Another Thing“. It’s not quite Douglas Adams but it’s still a very nice followup and he did the series proud.

I can see a multiplayer Hunger Games video game for something like the Vita. It would be a Fallout 1-style isometric turn-based RPG. It would be “asynchronimous”, so each person would take their turn at different times, they would each be able to move and do an action every turn, people could set traps or hide with bows and set up predictive fire like in X-COM, there would be vast, randomly-generated maps, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. What do you guys think, would asynchronous multiplayer work for something like The Hunger Games?

How the episode title wasn’t Poo Dollar is beyond me…

I’m getting the impression that MMORPGs just aren’t DD’s thing. They’re good for Mexican things for a while, but not a long term relationship.

@Yoshi As for audiobooks, I was initially resistant myself, but found out that a good presenter could make it quite entertaining, I relented. I’ve not heard the HHG audiobook, but I’d not say no to grabbing a listen.

@Smelly What pinball game do you play again? What platforms is it on?

I play Pinball FX on 360, which is called Zen Pinball on PS3. Best fake pinball available.

First off, I would like to kindly present to the Big Red Barrel Boom crew the prestigious Boomie award for “Most Awesomest Cultural Exploration in a Loosely Video Game-Oriented Podcast”. I would also like to bestow upon you the “Smelliest Pirate,” “Dead-iest Dog,” and “Most Yoshi-est” awards, presented annually to outstanding podcast hosts who best uphold said underlying traits. Congratulations, and please accept this image I ripped off from Shutterstock of an old guy holding a generic award. You earned it.

    Boomie Award

Second, seeing as you recently gave my iTunes feedback, entitled “Fecal Ear Matter,” a shout-out in episode six, I will henceforth be referring to myself as a “professional critic, as quoted in a multiple-award winning online talk show,” and adding such to any and all future resumes. It is assumed you consent that your agreement of the awesome-ness of my comments in my iTunes feedback is equivalent to wholehearted endorsement of my entire being, and you all agree to be used as personal references in future job interviews. Thanks for that!

Also, perhaps a homebrew “Hunger Games”… game… is in order? I can see it now; “Indigestion Games,” where you enter a variety of stats and personal skills during a complex character creation screen, and then die within five seconds of beginning the actual games from some random force, such as a swarm of tracker-jackers, fireballs of doom, or an arrow to the throat.

  26. Amazing as always. however, excuse my french va te faire foutre!!! winky
