The developers behind Duskers, Misfits Attic, have revealed their next project at The MIX Showcase, a dungeon-crawling roguelite with a heavy chess twist, Below the Crown.
Players take on the role of a lone wizard who recruits a party of chess-inspired pieces while delving through shifting dungeons. Battles play out with familiar chess manoeuvres, mixed with spell cards and unique abilities that keep each run unpredictable. Between encounters, the game throws in glitchy psychological questions that hint at something deeper going on beneath the surface.
A demo of Below the Crown will be available during Steam Next Fest from 13-20 October 2025, with the full release heading to Steam Early Access in Q4 2025 on PC.
