The first proper look at The Testaments makes its link to The Handmaid’s Tale clear straight away. The trailer shifts the focus to Agnes and Daisy as another generation comes up under Gilead’s rule, while Aunt Lydia looms over the whole thing.
It is framed as a coming-of-age story, but the footage leans hard into resistance, indoctrination and the cost of survival. There is enough here to sell it as more than a straight continuation, even if the shadow of the earlier series still hangs over every shot.
The Testaments premieres on Disney+ on April 8, 2026.
