She Remembered Caterpillars @ EGX 2016

There are a lot of games pushing the boundaries in terms of subject matter this year: from That Dragon Cancer to Firewatch, developers are allowing story to shine without restricting gameplay.  A new addition to this emotionally intuitive genre is She Remembered Caterpillars.

• Developer: Jumpsuit Entertainment UG
• Publisher: Ysbryd Games
• Reviewed on: PC
• Also Available On: Mac, iOS, Android
• Release Date: Late 2016

Subtly weaving the tale of parent and child bonding through a difficult situation, the game drip feeds you story after completing each whimsical stage  It is currently unclear to me how the game links to the story but it does show how well the demo served as an aperitif of the whole game.  Controlling little mushroom people, your task is to get them to their “docks” through various gates and bridges.    The game play is relatively simple – move mouse, left click to move the creature you have selected and right click to merge/un-merge but the puzzles themselves are deceptively tricky.

If you are a fan of puzzle games or intrigued by the hidden story within the game, check out the demo if you can or just wait a little longer and get it on PC/Mac/IOS/Andoid later on this year.
