BRB UK 166: “I want to be Broken”

Trouble has hit Team BRB UK this week as Dan & Tim are both absent from this week’s episode, leaving a show first as Coleman assumes control. Luckily he’s wrangled his Big Red Brothers in the form of the Barrelcast’s Kev and “the Irish man” Diarmuid.

So lend your ears to the following topics of note:

  • Has Kojima left Konami?
  • PlayStation 4 gets a price drop
  • Halo 5: Guardians has a massive patch and Spartan Companies
  • Red Bull’s Destiny codes invade the UK
  • Volume Coda causes a VR debate
  • Diarmuid shreds at Rock Band 4 before finishing Life is Strange and Tales from the Borderlands
  • Kev tortures Coleman using his Super Mario Maker skills
  • Coleman plays  The Beginner’s Guide and can’t really talk much about it

We appreciate you chaps taking time out of your week to listen to our show.  For your convenience, you can simply download the MP3 by clicking HERE or you can subscribe via iTunes, RSS or Stitcher and stay up to date.

A big thanks to Paul Fake for allowing us to use his song Ode to the Traveller. If you’re in the habit of creating music and would like us to play it on the show, let us know in the comments below.

sounds like Kev has gone to the dark side of Mario.

i finally got my light up to 294 after 2 weeks of getting the game on a game show en pumping over 50 hours in it. after rage quitting destiny year 1.

i probably buy a PlayStation vr but i rely want them to make it so you can play some of my existing games on it. would love to play battlefield or destiny on it.

  2. CORRECTION: I said I reviewed Volume. I didn’t – Reuben did (an excellent review by the way, that I agree with wholeheartedly). Apologies for that.

Besides that snafu, I really enjoyed recording that. Good vibes go to Tim and Dan too.

  3. Also a CORRECTION for Kev! tongue

EVE Valkyrie could not be played in the way it was intended without playing on a VR headset due to the headtracking used for aiming missiles – this may not sound like much but makes a big difference to the way you play and has been one of the defining features that sold VR controls to me. It really needs to be played to see just how useful and well implemented into the game it is. You could play without it but I don’t ever want to! thumb

None of the original team this week, is that the first time?

I have been predicting for some time that VR will be the next motion control; nice idea with some fun applications but ultimately a white elephant. Maybe I will look very stupid in 12 months time…

  6. Yay I won a competition… that I was the only one to enter…  I choose to believe that my entry was that good that everyone else thought it would be pointless to enter!  I’m thinking if Dan sends me a random biscuit I shall create an ‘unboxing’ video happy.

Great show this week.  Diarmuid should be on every show, makes it more cultural.

Also liking the Coupling reference as that’s where my name comes from. Jeff described a female you can’t get rid of as an ‘unflushable’ and I thought that sounded perfect for my WoW character, the hero you can’t get rid of!

Well top of the morning to you too sir.

    Dammit Coleman! No marsupials. 0/5

    You’re better than this.

So I have a conundrum I was hoping I could get your collective opinions on.

With the PS4s price drop, would it be better to get one before or after christmas, I own an Xbox one and most of the friends i game with usually made the jump to Ps4 with the generation.

The main reason I stayed on xbox is because Halo is my favourite series and master chief is my bro (Although as of this time I don’t have halo 5 due to finances, legitimate manly tears were shed over this)

But i’d have the more social aspect if i went to Ps4, I’d actually have people for my Destiny fireteam instead of lone wolfing it, or a squad for battlefield… In fact, with, the exception of halo, i’d pretty much play the same games, different console.

Any ideas on my super first world gamer problem??

Which episodic game would you suggest first – Borderlands or Game of Thrones?

    Juggernogging brilliant show chaps.

I missed the Moist Doctor Doctor, thanks for the Moist from Kev! And not enough Basically’s from anyone, but the Wrestle chat was good, and the gif is amazing! Thanks for sharing Diarmuid.

5 out of 5 Barrels Folks.

Excellent show chaps, keep up the great work 🙂
