Nintendo has confirmed that both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 as part of Mario’s 40th anniversary. The two games will release together in a combined physical edition, while also being available separately as digital downloads.
These updated versions offer enhanced resolution (up to 4K on Switch 2), an improved UI, button and stick control options, alongside motion support, and a new in-game music player. Most notably, both games will expand Rosalina’s storybook with new pages of lore.
A pair of new amiibo (Mario & Luma, plus Rosalina & Lumas) will follow on April 02, 2026, offering in-game items like Life and 1-Up Mushrooms. A hardcover edition of Rosalina’s storybook is also on the way, though it won’t include the extra content added in these re-releases.
Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 launch on October 02 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
