Nintendo Direct September 2025 Explained

2025 has been a strange year for the red brand so far. We’ve had the launch of a brand new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, which brought a lot of hype, including Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and… not much else really (unless you’re a fan of ports).

Now that we’ve had a mainline Nintendo Direct to show what’s in store, it may finally be time to pull the trigger and purchase a Nintendo Switch 2 in time for 2026.

So, here’s everything shown from the September 2025 Nintendo Direct.


Nintendo has announced a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which is set to release in cinemas next year, with the main cast returning.

Release Date: April 03, 2026


Both Galaxy games will arrive as a bundled package, featuring updated controls, enhanced visuals, an in-game music player, and new Rosalina Storybook content. A free Nintendo Switch 2 update boosts resolution up to 4K.

This entry boasts 38 playable characters, 30 special rackets, new online modes, and an Adventure mode where baby versions of Mario and friends battle monsters through tennis matches.

A new edition of Super Mario Wonder arrives with Bellabel Park multiplayer minigames, including Phanto Tag and coin-collecting challenges.

Nintendo is bringing a piece of Super Mario Bros. Wonder into the real world with a physical “Talking Flower” set to launch alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition next spring.

Launching in Spring 2026, this new adventure introduces Mr. E, a mysterious book that records discoveries about the world as Yoshi explores and experiments.

Storm Lancers offers both solo and couch co-op play. Players navigate a campaign reminiscent of 1980s anime and arcade shooters, collecting “storm hearts” to unlock permanent upgrades between runs, while facing a mix of platforming challenges and boss battles.

Launching on November 5, this island life-sim lets players farm, fish, and build up a rugged settlement into a thriving town. A demo is available now.

This new entry lets players create a community of Miis, help them form relationships, and manage their lives on a small island.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection spans the franchise’s history, including Mortal Kombat 1 through Deadly Alliance and Tournament Edition, complete with documentary footage, online play with rollback netcode, and GameShare support on Nintendo Switch for local multiplayer without the need for multiple copies.

Square Enix’s modernised RPG arrives with the Intermission DLC.

After its PC early access, Hades 2 launches digitally and physically for Switch 2, with cross-save support and 120fps performance in TV mode.

Nintendo is recreating the Virtual Boy, releasing a physical and cardboard model. Over 14 classic titles will be supported, including Mario’s Tennis and Galactic Pinball.

After years of waiting, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally has a release date. The new trailer showed Samus riding a motorcycle called Vi-O-La while using psychic abilities and her usual arsenal to escape the planet Viewros. New Amiibo for Samus, Vi-O-La, and Sylux are on the way.

Available today, this paid DLC adds DK Island (which is full of series throwbacks) and Emerald Rush, a timed challenge mode that introduces fossils, Banandium Gems, unlockable fashions, and collectable statues.

Nintendo also confirmed upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch releases for EA Sports FC 26, Little Nightmares III, Persona 3 Reload, LEGO Voyagers, Disgaea 7 Complete, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, and Two Point Museum.


The next entry in Capcom’s survival horror series arrives alongside ports of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village.

Nintendo closed the show with the reveal of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, set around Heroic Games in a grand coliseum. The story introduces characters such as Cai, Queen Theodora, Dietrich, and Leda, each battling for a wish granted by the Divine Sovereign.
