The first trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 has crash-landed from San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s clear that John Cena is about to get very weird. Now officially part of James Gunn’s new DCU, this eight-episode follow-up jumps one month after the events of Superman—and throws Peacemaker headfirst into the multiverse.
Using something called a Quantum Unfolding Chamber, Peacemaker escapes his old DCEU stomping ground into the DCU proper. There, he finds a universe that looks a whole lot shinier—until he runs into an alternate version of himself. Frank Grillo joins the cast as Rick Flag Sr., still raging over his son’s death, while Gunn teases plenty of returning faces from Superman, including Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, and the bizarrely named Red St. Wild—played by Michael Rooker, who Gunn describes as “Eagley’s Lex Luthor.”
Season 2 of Peacemaker premieres August 21 on HBO Max and then the following day on Sky Atlantic for us UK folk.
