So Dave, after all these years you are still putting up the podcasts a week late. Ah, I kid I kid. Sort of.

I’ve been listening for a while, just sort of left my login alone to expire while I drift off into PC land. I have a ps4 coming to me on launch with killzone. I’m looking forward to playing that up you guys, but I am a little hesitant to believe that pacman is getting one on launch. I remember how long it took for that ps3 to show up. Not sure what other games I’ll be getting for it assassin’ screed looks sharp, but if the need for speed game turns out well I just might have to get that.

Kev, stop saying that games will be designed around the lowest spec console. That has never been the case. During ps2/xbox days games came out looking and running better on xbox even though it sold the least units. PS3/360 years games were dev around ue3. The only thing that hampered early games was that dev designed around the 360 not always having a hdd. Which they eventually said F\*\*\* it. Most games looked the same on both consoles not because they were developing down to one but because the relative output that they could get was about the same. While greater CPU power was in the ps3, using that was not practical. This time the hardware is off the shelf parts that developers are already familiar with. The ps4 has a GPU that is 50% more powerful(18cu in ps4 to 12 in xbone). Early on we will see differences as a result of late or bad api, and the amount of reserved power/memory for the 3 os’s in the xbone. multiplat games that have a PC release are being led on PC which by nature is very scalable, and then ported to the new consoles. It will take little to no extra time and money to make the PS4 version as shiny as possible. Games are being ported with teams of less than 5 guys and they are doing it with time to spare. The eSRAM in the xbone might make a difference, but we won’t know about that for some time. Just like this generation the games in the late cycle will target 30fps, and that’s when the real hardware differences will show up.

oh oh and when are you assholes going to get rothybaby back on for the ps4 stuff?

    Another good episode, cheers guys!

Kev, for that website that googles things for you, here:… :p Absolutely love it, just the most perfectly condescending site.

I can really understand the general criticism of Arkham Origins as well. City was definitely a step up from Asylum in terms of storytelling and gameplay, but Origins just feels like a bit of a grind. Somehow it’s lost a bit of the magic that kept me playing A & C despite their generally fairly tedious and repetitive combat (and I know a lot of people would disagree with that, probably I’m playing it wrong).

Guys you know Australia has an R18+ rating for games now right? It took a while but it finally happened.
