Big Red Barrelcast 25: Grand Theft 420

The Big Red Barrelcast returns to tickle your ear drums with their ramblings! On this week’s episode, Dave and Pacman are reunited with Kev to discuss France, XCOM, and marijuana. Don’t forget to visit our sponsor Insert Coin Clothing and cover up your nakedness by using discount code BIGREDSAVINGS15 for 15% off your order!

This time, they ramble on about:

  • Saints Row 4
  • The Bureau
  • Borderlands on your Vita
  • GT6
  • Diablo expansion
  • LBP Hub
  • a new Destiny developer diary
  • next gen launch titles
  • Shout outs
  • Some lovely bonus content for BRB podcast app owners.

We’d love to give you all some sort of incredible hug immediately followed by a polite conversation about how cool you are, but frankly we can’t afford the travel expenses. So, while we save our pennies, cents, and whatever the heck Canadians use, we’ll offer you some download links to help bide the time. Based on this episode, maybe a rewrite of the title song is in order… (due apologies to Kev)

May seem really stupid, and I don’t know if I missed it in the map rotation, but I was really pleased that Enemy Within seems to be bringing back the Barn/Farmhouse map from XCOM: UFO Defence. That level has been the site of so many terrible defeats and the rare incredible victory in my time on that game. To me it really is XCOM. Like when I think of the first game that’s the map I think of. So yeah, it pleased me to see it there.

(Note: I never made it past the Cargo Ship because I suck and rage quit never to play again so yeah… If that map appears after that then I apologise XCOM: Enemy Unknown. You nodded to the fans after my time.)

  3. You are very correct, the Farmhouse is a new map. It has me stoked too and I can’t wait to see all the other new maps.

I cut my gaming teeth on the original X-COM, and one of the things that disappointed me most about Enemy Unknown was the lack of variety in the maps, so to see them really adding some different environments is great

If X-COM was your first experience of gaming congrats for wanting to even continue with this hobby. ;P
