BRB Boom 31: Bell South

It’s time, once again, to put boom in your boom and listen to BRB Boom. This week, Dogsdie, Smelly Pirate and Yoshifett nerd out about Wreck It Ralph, the Wii U, movies that ruin game franchises, the best games they never played, game modes that need to exist and other topics that affect today’s gamer.

Please be sure to subscribe to the BRB Boom feed on iTunes or RSS. If you insist, you can always just download the mp3. If you are currently using a computer with iTunes on it, would you mind heading over there and leaving some feedback?

Best episode ever. I don’t really remember it specifically. They all kinda run together at this point.

Ah Yoshi, good to see that it wasn’t just my uterus making me feel sadness at the end of Spec Ops. It is not a bro shooter.  (Just like Event Horizon is not a movie that is a mildly scary sci-fi romp that you should watch with your 10 and 12 year old nephews, awkward, and traumatizing.) Honestly lost some hours of sleep over it.  It should be played more, because I think it’s an important game.

The song at the end?  Brilliant!

Now that I’ve played it, I’m talking to more and more people that have played the game and have had the same reaction that we’ve had. I agree. It’s an important game (and I don’t say that lightly) and I really think everyone who plays shooters should play it and then think about stuff for a while, just to maintain perspective.

DogsDie, I’ve gotten into 4 drug fights with my wife and lost every one. Just so you know, where I live in Canada, the theaters don’t charge you extra for buying your tickets online, so maybe you should think about moving. There is also a high concentration of Mormons, if that help!

Yoshi now that the Wii U is out there will be and HD Zelda and Metriod… eventually. There are Zelda and Metriod mini-games in NintendoLand which are both fairly fun. I’m sure we’ll have full fledged games in the next couple years though. As for other companies making these games, Retro made the Prime games as you probably know, and even thought Nintendo owns Retro, they aren’t Nintendo proper and they are an American developer. In fact no one knows what Retro has been doing since Donkey Kong Country Returns came out (which is so, so good), so they could be working on a new HD Metriod game. Also Team Ninja made Metriod: Other M. Capcom made 2 Game Boy Zelda games, Oracle of Seasons and Ages, and 1 GBA Zelda game, Minish Cap. So other companies making these games aren’t out of the question.

Smelly I hope you get to keep your Wii U and that you get it connected to the internet soon and we can be Wii U friends!

Loved the show guys! Dogs more sims gibberish please and smelly you at the end losing your hosts one by one and yet still making hilarious quips was amazing. Then to top it off an awesome song using the legend Billy Joel! podcasting at its best and if I came home and found smellypirate in bed with my wife I’d tuck him in, legend.

Awesome episode, gents. Real talk, you guys seemed to be in a bit of a slouch, like the Ghostbusters at the beginning of Ghostbuster 2, but now you’re back, and that is good. Forget real-world locations for a game, I want ‘Ender’s Game’ Battle School. You could do a Bully-style game combined with the actual battle room thing. I know a battle room game was in progress and subsequently canceled, but maybe the movie next year could result in an Ender’s Game: The Movie: The Game that isn’t trash. And I want a game about Market Bears.

Thanks for sticking in through the slump! I have been waiting for an Ender’s Game Game for a long time, but I suppose I can hold out for Ender’s Game: The Movie: The Game.

Good show guys. The discussion about the cost of digital media vs brick and mortar media was interesting. It seems to me that instant gratification is why downloads are more expensive than their physical counterparts. From what I’ve been seeing, Smelly is right though in that music downloads typically are less expensive CDs. Thing is, to some ears, they are not the same thing, with mp3 being a lossy format and CDs lossless – they can hear the difference. Why? because boobs.

Great ep, guys!  Another day you’ve kept me laughing at my desk rather than bludgeoning coworkers.
