BRB Boom 25: End of Meme

It’s time, once again, to put boom in your boom and listen to BRB Boom.  This week Dogsdie, Smelly Pirate and Yoshifett nerd out about how The Boom will end, free to play, PS One titles on the Vita, deal of the week and other topics that affect today’s gamer.

Please be sure to subscribe to the BRB Boom feed on iTunes or RSS. If you insist, you can always just download the mp3. If you are currently using a computer with iTunes on it, would you mind heading over there and leaving some feedback?

  1. Hey guys, loved the show. The sincerity bomb segment was very sober. I generally don’t post on the website, but if it’ll even keep you guys going one week longer, I’ll definitely be far more active on the site. What I will say though, is that even if none of you were to ever talk about games, I wouldn’t care. I just listen to your show for the banter, your chemistry together is hilarious regardless of the topic.

I’m hoping you reconsider the whole “quitting” the show, but I understand you have real lives to take care of first. My week wouldn’t be the same without the Boom in it though!

  2. Lag Spike

It’d really suck to see you guys go 🙁

I generally listen to you guys during slavery 1 hour trip to work, my week just wouldn’t be same without the boom.

  3. Badhaggis

You are aware that a baker’s dozen is 13?

This week had some hilarious lines. By far my fave was Yoshifett’s “I’m upset with you and I don’t even have sex with you.”

I think PMPB said it best… Free to Play = Pay to Win. Which is one reason why I will favor subscription-based games – the playing field seems a bit more level.

Good show guys. I hope you continue with laying down podcast tracks. Real talk.

  6. j3ster izz back

I finally have time to listen to your show and post on the forums and now you’re talking about ending the show?  This hurts guys…but I understand, do what you gotta do.

If you quit I’ll be forced to reanimate your corpses and host a podcast in my basement. Mantooth needs some company down there, anyhow.

    That said, haven’t listened yet.

    Edit:

Oh man, it’s hard to hear that you aren’t enjoying this. I can’t argue in favor of doing something you don’t like. That said, I hope you do continue to boom. This is the only podcast I listen to more than once per episode nowadays, and I feel as if I’ve come to know you guys (in a non creepy way) over the years. I’m not a twitter or facebook person, and I don’t feel those medias wouldn’t be sufficient to fulfill the expectation of the brown boom in my ears. I miss mantooth enough, I’d be really sad if I lost you guys as well.

What type of feedback would you all most prefer? Twitter, ITunes reviews, forum posts? Can I Yelp a podcast? If you would like external support to make the podcast satisfying, let me know how I can participate to ensure the survival of the best non-videogame videogame podcast. How else would I be able to go off the tops ropes from stacks on stacks on stacks of legubrious, aggroing clerics onto bioluminescent, lycanthropic N-words in Paris while screaming YOLO! and after I hit them looking down and whispering, YODO. . . .

Oh, how I LOL! This was too epic.

Thanks for the love, everyone. We (I) didn’t have any intention of coming across desparate, and I hope it didn’t seem attention-seeking, but it is really great to interact with everyone on here. I prefer forum interaction because it allows for richer discussions and what not, and it’s easier to go back and read if we want to reference it on the show than twitter is.

Love you, Booombahs, and thanks for putting up with our sincerity bombs of late, it’s therapeutic for us.thumb

What would you do if we gave up on Boom? Would you sic all the boombas on me? Lend us your ears and we’ll sing you a song, and we promise it will be out of key… Oh baby, we get by with some help from Boom friends…

Yeah. That’s right, you don’t even have to write the parodies for me to be able to hear them anymore. I listen to about 30 hours of podcasts at work every week, and yours is the only one to ever get me in a trouble due to uncontollable laughing, not to mention being the only show I’ve ever signed up for the forums for. I loved the Brown, I love the Boom, and if listener interaction will help inspire you to continue the show, then I solemnly pledge to talk more until you kindly ask me to stop. Please, mas boom!

    Real talk.

You guys are definitely my fave podcast on iTunes. If you guys were to decide not to do the show anymore, you should definitely consider alternative times of still doing the show, like fortnightly or monthly. Weekly is definitely the way i’d personally want it, but i’d rather hear you guys once a month than never again.

One hour out of 336 or 672 hours is doable, no?

I’m wiping that sincerity bomb off of my face right now. Like you, I don’t have the time or the interest to play games much anymore. I do not listen to Boom! for the gaming information. I listen because you three are absolutely awesome together. Dogs Die, let me get out the lotion so that I can stroke your ego… You are hilarious! I ask you, Smelly, and Yoshi to please continue to podcast… I don’t give a flip what the show is about. If not about video games, then pick something else in your life that all three of you can talk about…. Actually, I kinda wanted to hear your stances on political issues. It does not matter, because you three will make it entertaining for the rest of us.

And what’s more, is that you’re all naturally funny people that have great chemistry together. So whatever the topic, you won’t have to work hard to make us laugh.

Feels kinda lame to kiss ass just because everyone else is, but I’d feel more awkward about not fitting in. I’ve been a fan of you guys since Humpday and now it’s because of the Boom that I can take the barrel out of my mouth for an hour a week. The show is perfect the way it is, and if you never mention video games again, it’ll be too soon. Though, I wonder, if you could get 10 Boombas to metaphorically fellate you on the forums in 24 hours…what’s your favorite game. Always wanted to know that. You got the perfect balance of sarcasm, sincerity, and quotes from classic movies and 90’s gangster rap. So keep showin’ much flex when it’s time to wreck a mic, slippin’ and trippin’ ’bout why they crossed out Mike and Ike. You know I listen to each show that comes out nine times. Nine times? Ninnne times!

  17. xXx SWAGYOLOHAM@ 24/7 Blazed

I don’t listen to Boom for the super latest video game information. I listen to it because you guys have insane chemistry together, You guys could do a show on cooking and i’d still tune in every week. (and I hate cooking!) Without a doubt, one of the funniest podcasts i’ve heard.

Been listening since day1. Never actually posted anything till now though. Good luck with whatever yall decide is best. 🙂

    Is that all? sunglasses

I pretty much listen to the show multiple times a day until a new one is released and I do that for all of the BRB shows. Boom and Blu especially though.

I am such a Boom! fan, I mute YouPorn so I can listen to the show.

    win.

i love you, show. If you leave me, now, I am going to have to go to have a go on playing a gong.

Edit: You guys are funny and great!

  22. You guys are awesome.  Thanks for the encouraging words!  I’m seriously surprised so many responses have been made here on the forums in response to our latest episode.

Just like Smelly said, this wasn’t a plea for attention, or for an ego stroke.  Just tried to record an honest episode about how we feel.  We’ll be recording tomorrow night and I can’t wait to get it in your ears!

  23. adam

Repost, sorry, but hey, you’re not the only attention whores… kidding…

    I love you.

I had no idea my lack of attention was driving us apart! Just give me another chance…we’re gonna make it after all. Hope you guys can keep going with the podcast. I understand that life is hard and busy, whatever you decide, know that a Canadian loves you more than Tim Horton’s.

  26. steamRobot

Hey Alan, leave DogsDie alone, you wanker.

Been listening since Humpty days, miss that opening tune. Please don’t stop. Take a break if you need it, but don’t stop.

  27. tiita

    guys guys guys..

i find it harder and harder to listen to you .. in my limited podcast listening time (2 hours on a sat while i bike riding) you keep me company and entertain me..

the issue is.. when i’m trying to climb any trickier uphill  and you guys crack a joke or two.. my legs turn into jelly and all of a sudden im stuck half way up

    embarrassed

lol keep up the great work thumb

For the love of all that is good and holy, please consider not ending this show. I have been listening to you guys in your various roles since you were first hosting your Community Cast four goddamn years ago. I’ve been unable to listen and post on BRB for the past year because I’m in my final year of highschool, and things have gotten hectic. I was really keen to get involved with BRB after SG collapsed, but just haven’t had the chance to get in here much.

Seriously, you guys have been a staple of my podcast diet for close to four years. I’ve laughed with you, I’ve listened to every iteration of your show, you’ve annoyed me, upset me, but most of all entertained me, and even the chopping and changing of hosts has always been something I’ve coped with http://www.bigredbarrel.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

You guys and the other podcasters at SG got me through my middle school and highschool years, the death of my grandparents, the breakup of my parents’ marriage, and have just been an ongoing influence on my life in an extremely positive way.

Damn it, guys, don’t leave meeeeeeeeeeee D:

  29. Outcats

When you can just sit there and listen to a bunch of guys talk about whatever happens to pop up on the fly, make it incredibly and consistently funny week after week, you got gold.

It’s illegal in some countries to remove currency from circulation, just saying guys toothysmile

  30. almuadib

Every episode is a timeless classic! I shall be sad to see the end of Downton Abbey.

    Oh…wrong forum, sorry.

  31. TamarindLAZ

This episode got me a bit down, but I’m happy that you guys got things off your chest. By the looks of things, some of your listeners did too, we really want the show to stay.

Boom is by far my favorite podcast. I love listening to your show. Everything flows so well and your dynamic is superb.

As a fellow boomba, I want this show to go on forever, but nothing good lasts forever, so I can understand that.

…seriously though, stay on the air. I’ve gotten much enjoyment from all your shows, so much entertainment I can’t get elsewhere.

There’ll be stacks on stacks of tears if this show died soon. sad

I’m happy a new episode is coming. thumb
