Welcome back to BRB Blu, the premier Sony podcast from BigRedBarrel.com. This week Rothbart and PacManPolarBear are joined by Esmeralda to discuss Papo & YoLittle Big Planet's "Progressive Insurance" sponsored contest, THQ, da roomahs, and a few more nuggets of Sony goodness. We have bonus content for BRB iPhone and Android app users.

We appreciate you taking time out of your day to listen to the show. For your convenience, you can simply download the MP3 by clicking HERE or if you’re one of those “set it and forget it” types, you can subscribe via iTunes, RSS, or Zune and stay in “real time.”

Damn, Esmee's got some Frawlz hate on her. Don't sweat it, Frawls, I'm sure you scored. You get that stinky-pinky while the gettin's good!

I agree with Pacman that the art style of Darksiders is too cartoony. And why does Death look like Kane from the WWF? He's way too trashy lookin' to be a righteous instrument of the wrath of God.

Good show guys!

Now, I don't want to tempt fate, but I think everything is going to be totally great, forever!

she was cute and it was a fun date. We might go out again this week too. I'll make sure it isn't on a Wednesday this time. Sorry about that. :(

Awesome episode as always thumb and we should consider a segment for gamer dating advice for Frawlz. Maybe get together thoughs ladies from that podcast that use to talk about games but didn't talk about games...

P.S.
To anyone listening to Esme when she talks about buying something for her just remember the words of Admiral Ackbar.

Esme: "Stop G Chatting me Shawn!"
Roth: ".....I'm sorry." (she didn't have to blow up my spot.....)
PacMan: (....boom)
Frawlz: (I want a burger for some reason)

I'd only solicit wiping advice. Wipe down?

Go often to the house of thy friend, for weeds choke the unused path.

I vote you just sleep with Frawlz (and then just get over him...)  Seriously, I'll pay half for the hotel room!

I don't know why but 14:07 in the episode is just so catchy to me despite all my efforts. Damn the catchy-ness!

I liked the bonus topic discussion - having a non-white and/or non-male protagonist (or antagonist) shouldn't matter, but yet, it does. Times are changing, but I don't think we're quite there yet. The big reveal of Samus, for example, I think says a lot about where we were in terms of video games at the time. And yet, nowadays, Yahtzee Croshaw seems to regularly mention minority races being villains on what seems like a pretty regular basis. This is usually preceded or followed by talking about the invincible white male hero aka American. Would adding more variation to the formula allow for greater gameplay experiences? I think so, but then I guess it really depends on the player's need (if any) to identify with the protagonist whether that be by skin color, race, personality, physical characteristics etc.

As for the stories games tell, I think that range can be expanded as well, with the caveat that some very dark territory could be entered. What would happen to a studio that made a game in which a child or children were injured or killed? Such games would imply to me the need for a more mature customer base than currently exists, or perhaps that game developers see their customer base differently. Still, it's an exciting prospect nonetheless.

I don't need dating advice. I'll be more than happy to give some out. Lord knows I've been on a few dates. And by a few... I mean a lot.
