Gaming For Good: More Peace Games Live Details

With the inaugural Peace Games Live event taking place on Saturday 21st September at the UKIE offices in London, more details have been released about the event and what you can expect to see.

For those who missed Tim’s earlier article, Peace Games Live is a 24-hour, video game fundraising livestream in support of the UN’s Global Peace Day that takes place on the same day. So far, various game creators and industry reps have been drafted in to help; creating bespoke, in-game download items with a percentage of the proceeds going to the Peace One Day charity; donating merchandise to be auctioned off during the livestream show on Twitch.TV; and giving up their time to appear at the event and take part in one of the livestream gaming feeds.

For those that didn’t miss Tim’s article and just skipped that last paragraph, Playmob have also confirmed that mutants, musicians and villagers have confirmed their support for this worthy cause. These fundraising initiatives from Kobojo, SoshiGames and Playdemic are:

  • The Captain Peace character for Kobojo’s Mutants Genetic Gladiators Facebook game is being sold for $80.09, with $28.03 going to support Peace One Day every time that he’s purchased.

  • SoshiGames’ Clue the Music on iOS will be including two Peace Games initiatives. Firstly, a 600-coin pack will be retailing at $9.53, with $3.32 going to Peace One Day. Secondly, their Music Festivals game on Facebook has a Peace Games balloon retailing at $5, with $1.75 going to support Peace One Day.

  • Finally, Playdemic’s limited edition Peace One Day Pack for Village Life is available for 24 hours on 21st September 2013 – available for $4.99, with $1.99 going to support Peace One Day.

They will also be a chance to donate money during the Peace Games Livestream throughout the event on Saturday, 21st September. If you can, please support any or all of these initiatives. The funds raised will go towards providing vaccinations for children in war torn areas, education around peace and raising awareness of the movement. The organisers believe that Peace Games Live will demonstrate the passion, creativity and generosity of the gaming and development communities. Being long-term advocates of these same qualities, I’m sure the Big Red Barrel community will prove them right… again!

  1. I can’t talk about all the details, but the final lineup for this is looking GREAT, with some larger games also set to announce in game items that can be purchased and a hugh pile of prizes to give out to donators and viewers. We also have some great new games (big and small) to show you on the day. Also the small matter of me presenting video content for an insane number of hours in a row! = )
