We eat all the hearts of our enemies and ramble about the The Darkness II, while our darling little darkling urinates on the corpses. How lovely of him. Join Mat, Cory and Fisherman as they take a look at a Darkness that isn’t a terrible rock band.

Thought this game would be good but now I’ve played through it, it kind of left me going “oh..is that it?” I seemed to breeze through the game with little difficultly and with it not really leaving any notable moments in my head. Obviously the characters and story aren’t the big element in this game, but considering I thought the first game had balanced the combat and narrative quite well this fell short for me. The combat is fun, but the story just kind of passed me by without a thought. Couldn’t feel sorry for this person dying etc because they weren’t really developt enough for me to care – which is a shame, because the first game did this well. When Jenny died I thought it was truly horrible to watch and made you want to spur the protagonist on with his mission for revenge. In the Darkness 2 however, all the characters seemed like generic story pushers who you needed to talk to just to push the plot forward and get you to the next action part.
It’s still fun, but I think it’s lost it’s touch for the story and characters with the clear change in direction from the new developers.
